The Moulton Sixth Form football team capped a memorable double winning season by adding the Sixth Form League title to their under-17 County Cup success.
The team had completed their campaign back in April, but had to wait until this month before finally being crowned champions. Moulton had a five point lead over both NSB and Northampton Academy, with both rivals still having two fixture remaining. However, a draw between the two sides last week means that neither can now overtake Moulton.
The victory is a fitting finale for the Year 13 students who are now departing for university, many of whom helped found the sixth form football team when it started two years ago. Names such as Howarth, Newbury, Johnson, Foster, Webb, Fellows, Loveday, Anscomb and Bridges are likely to be sung on the terraces at Moulton for years to come.
No player deserves to pick up a winners medal more than leading marksman Connor Gibbins. The talismanic striker bagged a remarkable 24 goals in just eight league appearances and defenses across the county must already be fearing facing him next campaign.
